Fifty community groups and 500 charities are being offered the chance to receive free wireless connection to the internet. Freerunner, a network that provides free public wi-fi, has asked members of local communities to apply and will offer to install it in any local community building.
It has also joined forces with donor website Justgiving to offer free wi-fi services to some of its charity members. The initial plan is to install 50 hotspots across the UK and are working to find commercial sponsors for future locations. Community groups interested in receiving a free hotspot should send 150 words explaining where and why they want the connection to Freerunner or phone 0800 860 0815.
