Wiltshire Council and NHS Wiltshire have announced continued support for the voluntary sector. In a statement, the Chief Executives of both bodies said "...We will continue to work with voluntary organisations to make their relationship with us, and their impact on Wiltshire, as effective as possible. We are keen also to discuss ways in which we can work together to reduce our collective overhead costs"... "So we shall be reviewing the funding to some organisations and shall be discussing this with them shortly. In addition, we are supporting organisations to consider collaborations and mergers as a way of stabilising services and reducing some of the core costs".
The statement continues "We would therefore like to congratulate the 4 Citizens Advice Bureaux in Wiltshire currently engaged in merging in principle into one countywide organisation. The support service to VCS organisations (generally known as infrastructure) currently provided by four Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS's) is out to tender, and a new county-wide service will begin on 1st April 2010".
